The home is where the family comes together to experience security, shelter and safety as we will spend more than 50% of our lives indoors. Children are at a higher risk because they are still growing, discovering their environment and spending much of their time where many dangers exist. For example, malfunctioning gas appliances may result in carbon monoxide poisoning and improper storage of pesticides and other chemicals could result in accidental poisonings. Good mental and physical health depends on homes that are well maintained and free of dangers. Nonetheless, poorly maintained homes will promote poorer quality health and risk of injury.



Here some common hazards that could happened at home and may risky for our safety and health as well as our family such as :



  • Falls

Injuries due to falls are one of the most common household dangers. Wet floors, slippery stairs, and scattered toys all create the potential for falls. Falling is the third leading reason of unintended injury-related death over all age groups. Our family members may face the dangers if we did not aware with any the possibilities that could lead to falls around our homes.




  • Choking and Suffocation

Suffocation is one of main cause of unintentional injury-related death over all age groups, and choking on food can be happened to a youngster who was accidentally swallowing a small item during having their dinner. Therefore, we must educate our family members about choking hazards and take measures to keep your family safe.




  • Indoor Air Pollution

Poor indoor air quality can contribute to adverse health effects. Hence, it can make a person’s allergies or asthma worse. Allergies are the ways the body overreacts to common air pollution often found in the home such as tobacco smoke, animal dander, household dust, mold etc. Allergic reactions may involve a stuffy nose, sneezing, watery eyes, rashes, itching and swelling.




  • Poisonings

Several household items present poisoning dangers, including cleaning and home maintenance equipment. Poisoning illness may cause by gases, chemicals and other substances even prescription drug overdose. Nevertheless, a little cautious and the right know-how can decrease the chance of anyone in your family becoming a victim.

  • Fires and Burns

Burns may not seem like a common household danger, but they can be caused by both dishwashers and stoves in the kitchen. These convenient appliances may highly risky, especially to small children. Meanwhile, fires can be caused by over plugging those unused electrical appliances or leaving the flammable items near with heaters, radiators or stoves.
